Electric vehicles are a key part of a green lifestyle and are increasingly powered by renewable energy. The charging of electric vehicles and the development of charging stations opens up new perspectives for both environmental protection and energy savings.
Below, we look at different electric drive concepts and innovative charging station solutions.
Charging station vehicles
Electric vehicle charging station is a device that supplies electricity to electric vehicle (EV) batteries. These stations can be installed in both public and private spaces, offering different power levels that affect vehicle charging times. Charging stations are a key element of the infrastructure supporting the development of electromobility, enabling electric vehicle users to charge their cars seamlessly and conveniently.
Technical requirements
Electricity supply
Installing a charging station requires a suitable electrical connection, taking into account the power the station will supply. Depending on the model, stations may require a single-phase or three-phase connection.
Security
It is necessary to ensure that the electrical installation is adequately protected, including surge and residual current protection, to protect users and vehicles from damage.
Location
The charging station should be installed in an easily accessible location, with adequate space to manoeuvre the vehicle and close to a power source.
- Stage I - Location analysis
Prior to installation, it is necessary to carry out a site analysis to assess the availability of power supply and the fulfilment of safety requirements.
- Stage II - Design and preparation
Based on the analysis, an installation design is prepared, taking into account the charger's technical specifications and construction requirements.
- Stage III - Installation and configuration
The project preparation is followed by the installation of the charging station, its connection to the electricity grid and the configuration of the charging system.
- Stage IV - Testing and acceptance
Once the installation is complete, functionality tests and technical acceptance are carried out to ensure that the station is working properly and meets all safety standards.

Three concepts electric drive
Fully electric battery-powered vehicle (BEV)
BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicle) are all-electric cars that only use electricity stored in batteries for propulsion. This makes them completely emission-free, making them an environmentally friendly choice. BEVs are recharged using a charging station or a standard socket, and their range depends on the battery capacity.
Examples of BEV These include the Tesla Model S, Nissan Leaf or BMW i3. These vehicles are ideal for users looking for an eco-friendly and modern means of transport.
Plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV)
PHEVs (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) are vehicles that combine an electric drive with a traditional internal combustion engine. Thanks to their ability to be recharged from an external energy source, PHEVs can travel short distances on electric power alone, which is good for the environment. The internal combustion engine kicks in when the battery is depleted, allowing longer distances to be covered without worrying about range.
Hybrid vehicle (HEV)
Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) use an internal combustion engine supported by a small electric motor and a battery pack. HEVs do not need to be recharged from an external source, as the battery is recharged while driving by recovering energy from braking and running the combustion engine. Hybrids offer lower fuel consumption and lower emissions compared to traditional combustion cars.
Examples of HEV are the Toyota Prius and the Honda Insight.
Charging time a technology
Charging time for an electric vehicle is a key factor in the comfort of electric cars. It depends on several important factors, such as battery capacity, available connection power and type of charging station used. Different charging technologies offer a variety of charging modes that can be adapted to individual users' needs.
Full power
A charging mode with a maximum output of up to 11 kW (and in some cases even higher) enables the vehicle to be charged quickly. This is ideal for those who frequently make long journeys and need to replenish the battery quickly. Such charging is possible thanks to high-powered charging stations, which are available at petrol stations, in public places and also in private garages, if the electrical infrastructure allows it.
Comfort
The comfort charging mode offers lower power, typically around 5 kW, which means longer charging times. However, it is kinder to the battery, as slower charging reduces the risk of overheating and extends battery life. This mode is ideal for overnight charging in a domestic setting, where time is not so important and the user can take advantage of a cheaper electricity tariff. Comfortable charging also ensures greater stability of the power grid, especially in areas with limited resources.
EKO
EKO charging mode is the most environmentally friendly option, charging the vehicle only from excess power, for example from a photovoltaic system installed on the roof of the house. In this mode, charging is optimised to minimise energy costs and environmental impact, as energy is drawn when there is an excess, such as during the day when the sun is at its strongest. Although charging times in ECO mode can be longer and dependent on weather conditions, it is ideal for those who value sustainability and the use of renewable energy sources.
Choosing the right charging mode depends on lifestyle, preferences and available infrastructure. For people who need to replenish energy quickly, the mode of „Full Power” will be the best solution. In contrast, the mode „Comfort” and „EKO” offer more sustainable charging, both in terms of protecting the battery and the environment. Each of these options gives electric vehicle users ability to adapt the charging process to your individual needs and conditions.
